Even professional singers with beautiful voices may not be using their voice correctly and unnecessarily stress their vocal cords and throat. They should be able to sing with ease, power, and strength, with a wide range and in the same comfortable manner as speaking, but very often have:

      •Pitch and intonation problems
      •Shortness of breath
      •Lack of range
      •Soreness of the throat

HOW MIND OVER VOICE WORKS ...

Exercises are given to strengthen the muscles within the larynx by using the thought process and natural speaking apparatuses. One must never raise of lower the larynx to hit the high or low notes, thus keeping the voice box in a stable posture.

For detailed information on the larynx, vocal cords, and diaphragm, checkout the Vocal Anatomy section.

If a singer is using the proper muscles, the sound produced by training with these exercises will be free and relaxed. If there is any tension in the throat, neck, or jaw, you are using other muscles beside those in your voice box. These muscles should always remain relaxed with no involvement in the act of singing. The result is ultimate vocal power.
