DIAPHRAGM

The diaphragm is the large dome shaped muscle connected to the bottom of the lungs. Upon inhalation the lungs lower, and flatten the diaphragm. Upon expiration, the abdominal muscles automatically work to push on the diaphragm, raising it back to its proper place. Air is expelled from the lungs through the muscle-tensed cords, up through the resonators and out the mouth, creating sound.
